Leader Workout Group®

What is Leader Workout Group®?

Leader Workout Group® is a unique leader development opportunity created on the belief that leaders learn best in community – by engaging the material, and each other, in a meaningful way. With this approach, leaders build long-lasting behavior change that makes a measurable difference.

Much as regular exercise is the key to staying fit, steady reinforcement builds lasting success habits and behaviors. That’s where Leader Workout Group (LWG) comes in. LWG is the place where expert-led professional development and steady business peer-support meet.

Each month, your facilitator presents the learning topic where you’ll get ideas and practical tools to try on the job. As those personal experiments evolve, you can connect with your online LWG community to share results, challenges and questions with each other.

You get to evolve with trusted peers, sharing active problem solving with people who understand you and your unique challenges.

Why Leader Workout Group®?

People who are excellent individual contributors often get promoted to leadership roles. The stumbling block for many is that leadership involves an entirely different skillset. Leadership is a learned skill.

Research consistently demonstrates the immense influence of the manager role. With high turnover a costly and top of mind issue for CEOs, executives scramble to find the solution to keep valuable people engaged and loyal to their organization.

When examining the root of this enduring problem, the search often takes the wrong direction. The quick surgical fix is the prize. The reality is the solution requires time and consistent effort. Reducing high turnover needs to be addressed holistically and strategically. Executives must ask these questions:

  • Does my organization’s culture make people want to stay?

  • Am I reinforcing the behaviors that create an affirming, strengths-based organization?

The most influential variable in strong organizations is the manager. Executives now are connecting the dots that, to keep good people, they must develop leaders at all levels of their organization.

Leaders Do Have an Impact

For positive or negative, research has shown that leaders have a significant impact on key indicators of a work group’s success. Profitability, turnover, customer complaints, employee complaints, and workplace injuries are just a few variables that can be linked to the actions of the leader. Effective leader development is critical for an organization to succeed and thrive.

Structured, digestible, interesting, and efficient, The Leader Workout Group® will help support and nurture your growth. Leader Workout Group® consists of twelve learning modules each delivered in 30-day bites. Each quarter follows a different theme focused on key leadership competencies.

We Learn from each other

The Leader Workout Group is a brilliant concept with high-quality content. As a West Point graduate, former Army Special Forces officer, holder of a master’s in social-organizational psychology from Columbia University, and now as an executive coach, I have literally been studying and practicing leadership and leader development my entire adult life. Given the content and method of the Leader Workout Group, I recommend it for leaders and teams alike, without hesitation. What Nancy and her team have done is make top-notch leader development affordable and accessible to anyone with an Internet connection and a webcam. I am highly confident the program WILL create positive change in individual leaders and teams who put in the work!

Scott Morley, Senior Leadership Advisor, Azimuth Consulting Group

Being in a smaller group, in particular women, who are from all different walks of life is the biggest benefit of Leader Workout Group. It’s thought provoking and useful to hear the perspectives of every individual.

The layout of the course is well thought out, having the meeting first, then a couple weeks of homework allows you to focus on the topic little bits at a time.  Nancy is a great facilitator, and she is meant to be doing this.

Kelsey Johnson, Assistant Manager – Operations

Leader Workout Group offers a real opportunity for managers to gain valuable skills supporting emotionally intelligent, effective leadership, while at the same time having the chance to connect with other management professionals to learn and gain insight from their experiences.

This connection component combined with the skills development work made this the best leadership program I’ve attended in my career so far, as well as the most engaging. I highly recommend the program to managers of all levels who want to engage in authentic and meaningful growth in their leadership development, as well as mitigate for some of the isolation that can come from managing in an increasingly virtual environment.
