Build a Strengths Based Team

What would happen if we studied what is right with people versus what’s wrong? Don Clifton was a professor of educational psychology at Universtiy of Nebraska – Lincoln. He posed that question six decades ago as he developed the CliftonStrengths assessment – now a global tool for effective individual and team development.

A strengths-based approach is foundational for all our work here at Open Gate Consulting. According to Gallup research, teams where 90% knew their strengths had the best outcomes.

Indicators of a thriving strengths-based culture include:

  • Individual employees have the opportunity to do what they do best every day.
  • Everyone on the team has partnerships that encourage their own strengths development.
  • Managers use individual strengths to set meaningful goals and clarify expectations.
  • Team members can see the link between strengths and success as their competencies and performance improve.

Why Team Building

Leadership is a balance of courage, integrity, and authenticity. What better way to ensure all of those muscles are in tip-top shape.

When employees know an use their strengths, they are nearly 6 times more engaged, have higher performance and are much less likely to leave their company. Many companies use the CliftonStrengths34 assessment but haven’t really changed the conversations yet. This is where we can help.
